Why we started with the hardest state, first
Attestly started with a simple observation: associates were losing months of clinical hours to spreadsheet errors, missed supervision units, and paperwork that only got checked at the end — when it was too late to fix. Every rule was written down somewhere. No one had built software that actually read it.
We founded Attestly to change that, starting with California AMFT supervision rules — one of the most detailed rule sets a pre-licensed associate has to satisfy anywhere in the country. Our reasoning: if a rules engine can express California's requirements honestly, down to the 500-hour couples/families/children floor and the SB 1024 supervisee cap, expanding to other license types and other states becomes a narrowing problem instead of a widening one.
Our values
The record is the associate's, not the employer's
An associate's hours follow them, not their practice. Accounts are personal, export is always free, and no practice can lock or delete what an associate has logged.
Cite every rule
Every check we run traces back to a statute, regulation, or BBS publication. If we can't verify a rule, it can only warn — it can never block a logged hour.
We never certify compliance
Attestly shows what the record contains and what the rule requires. The supervisor attests under penalty of perjury. The Board decides. We stay out of that chain.
Build against the hardest case first

Early-stage, on purpose
Attestly is an early-stage company. We don't claim certifications we haven't earned, and we won't tell you we certify compliance — we don't, and no software should. What we do is track the full rule set honestly, cite every source, and make attestation tamper-evident.
We're working directly with a small number of design-partner practices and supervisors to get the California AMFT rules right before expanding to additional license types and states.
